“A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman’s weight or figure as a headline on Fox News.” (Ashlee Simpson, Yahoo News)
Funny thing is this story is reflective of many Americans feelings since the election. The dream is now true, the fix is in, the messiah has arrived, everything is coming up roses and daffodils. All women should never be embarrassed again, or made fun of, or worried about their weight, now the Obama is President. No more rain, no more pain, no more evil Republicans. People everywhere should be nice and get along because Barack Obama is the President of the United States.

Ashlee Takes on a Weighty Subject: Jessica Simpson
Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has a bone to pick with those who say her sister is looking a bit meatier than usual.
“I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister’s weight,” Simpson wrote Tuesday on her website. “A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman’s weight or figure as a headline on Fox News.99.9 Kiss Country’s Chili Cookoff in Pembroke Pines, Fla., with her “noticeably fuller figure” and had apparently “eased up on her fitness regimen a bit.”Hmmph, says Ashlee.“All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you’re a celebrity, there shouldn’t be a different standard,” the younger Simpson sis continued.
Sure enough, Fox’s website reported today that Jessica Simpson shocked fans Sunday at Radio”Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend? I seriously doubt it. How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure? Now we can focus on the things that really matter.” (More on Simpson)

Lead Story
Today was a good day for conservatism
I’ve been doing a lot of B.O. (Barack Obama/Bend Over) Republican-bashing the past few weeks. Watching the Republicans crumble on the Geithner and Holder nominations, swoon over The One’s congeniality, and display indecision over the stimulus hasn’t been easy on the stomach or the head.
But credit must be given where it is due. Today was a very good day for conservatism — and a good day for the party whose logo I’ve had to run upside-down for too long. (more Malkin)

Somewhere Geraldo’s watching this and cursing under his breath about wingnut alarmism. Tell it to the Defense Department, champ. How many goodies are packed away in this Pandora’s box? Let’s see: Our illegal immigration problem would rapidly turn into a refugee problem; the new warlords in charge would be cultivated by America’s enemies for border access; and, as Beck notes, either the U.S. or the World Bank or both would probably end up on the hook for billions as part of a national bailout. A forward-thinking chief executive might want to prepare now by reinforcing the border with walls and infrastructure improvements and expanding the BP to make sure they’re capable of providing a first line of defense. But that would cost tons of money. Anyone know of any spending bills in Congress that might help cover the expense? (Video Here)
