“In the future everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes.”. The future is now and it is time for the old dead fish wrappers to get out of the way.
Joe the plumber is the tip of the new generation of reporters. Others like Yoni the Blogger and Michael Yon have brought truth an quality back to reporting. Michelle Malkin and Hugh Hewitt are just a couple of the heavy weights who are changing the way we collect information and news.
Joe the Plumber and others are an encouragement to us small time bloggers who peck away at our keyboards in the middle of the night for a handful of readers. I for one am hopeful for the future of our democracy because of the up and coming new age of rue reporters.
Who’s afraid of Joe the Journalist?
My syndicated column today looks at the MSM sneering over Joe Wurzelbacher’s trip to Israel sponsored by PJTV, recounts how The Fraternal Order of the Professional Journalist has squandered its own credibility, and exposes how liberal media elites have attempted to shut out conservatives from membership in the journalism club by redefining their craft based on ideological content. (More on this story)
This video from Michelle Malkin gives evidence of the lack of credibility and ethics among the rapidly depleting MSM.
Soon after I filed the column, yet another example of damaged MSM credibility surfaced in the blogosphere. LGF and Bob Owens broke the story of CNN’s broadcast of suspicious Gaza footage featured two pro-Hamas doctors engaging in medical theater of jihad — by faking a bizarre form of CPR on a Palestinian boy who “died.” CNN, which heaped derision on JTP for taking on the role of reporter, has yanked the video. More on one of the jihadi apologist zealots, Dr. Mads Gilbert, at FNC. (Malkin)

CNN fakes it:
CNN republishes fake atrocity video; Update: CNN responds
posted at 8:00 pm on January 9, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Yesterday evening, I wrote about CNN’s use of an obvious fake video, sourced from Hamas’ webmaster, of an alleged Israeli attack on two young boys playing on a roof. After being exposed by blogs, CNN took the video down without any explanation. As of 4:30 pm ET today, though, the video has returned to CNN’s site, although they seem to have turned off the embedding for it. This version did get onto YouTube earlier — in fact, we used that to discuss this on today’s TEMS episode:

A missive arrived to me from a well-placed British officer. I know this officer well, and respect his abilities. He has been to both Iraq and Afghanistan. In part, the missive said:
“Please have a look at the attached from the UK Times. Regarding the Rachel Sylvester piece, we have not been able to find any such document/memo although it is possible that an e-mail exists somewhere that refers to such a matter – more likely to be a warning not to dick about regarding what extra troops the UK might be able to find for AFG and raise unrealistic US expectations.”
Rachel Sylvester US doubts about UK military effectiveness 6 Jan 09.pdf
The words imply that the US-UK relationship is fraying. This is untrue as seen from the foxholes I am constantly in. I have embedded with numerous British units in Iraq and Afghanistan, and have seen combat with all of those units. Maybe five or so. The units included 2 Rifles, 4 Rifles, Queen’s Royal Lancers, Duke of Lancaster’s, 2 Para, and I believe perhaps a couple more though there was much going on and it’s difficult to remember.

Good Bye Main Stream Media!
Seattle Post-Intelligencer is put up for sale
Hearst officials say Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper has been put up for sale
- Friday January 9, 2009, 8:08 pm EST
SEATTLE (AP) — Hearst Corp. put Seattle’s oldest newspaper, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, up for sale on Friday and said that if it can’t find a buyer in the next 60 days the paper would likely close or continue to exist only online.
If it does become an Internet-only operation, the P-I, as the paper is known locally, would have a “greatly reduced staff,” Hearst said in a statement. Hearst is a major media company that also owns TV stations, other newspapers and magazines including Cosmopolitan.
“In no case will Hearst continue to publish the P-I in printed form” once the 60 days are up, Hearst said. Steve Swartz, the head of Hearst’s newspaper division, broke the news to employees in a meeting Friday.
