Americans are obsessed with gambling!

slot-loose

Gambing has always been attractive to a certian segment of the population; now it is a national obsession!

Americans with expendable and investment income have been gambling on the stock market for years. Now Americans with little or no expendable money are gambling on the stock market and tragically in the housing market. Americans have taken Indian gaming casinos to heart, we have accepted gambling as a normal part of American daily life. We accept and expect our governments to sponsor lotteries. From the retired great grandmother pouring quarters into her favorite machine to the young couple buying up investment houses, Americans are obsessed with getting rich quick.

Just turn on the boob tube and see how many shows are based on someone giving someone “Free Money”. From “Deal or No Deal” to ‘Extreme Makeover; Home Edition” Americans eat up the idea that wealth will come at little or no cost. We have become weaklings and drunk on “Hitting it Big” without accepting the painful consequences of losing.

We started leaning over the ledge years ago when we started allowing our governments to sponsor gambling in the form of lotteries. Then the mass movement to build Gaming casinos on every square inch of reservation land accelerated our greed(The Highest Number Of People Accept Casino Gaming In Years). With the Fannie Mae – Freddie Mac movement to create home owners out of people who can’t afford it, we added another section of the population who saw $$$ signs coming from trying to buy up properties and turn them for a quick buck.

Yes Americans want it rich and they want it now but they don’t want to pay the piper Hence we have everybody being Bailed Out! Maybe we should place government agents in all casinos to pay off anyone who loses all of their quarters.

From Michelle Malkin:

“There’s no pain-free cure for recession”

This is exactly right.

Unfortunately, “Suck It Up” is not a winning message in Washington. (More Mallkin)

Americans don’t like pain. They don’t like to take their medicine. We have played too long and too hard and now we want Uncle Sam to take away the pain and put a band aid on it. We have had an epidemic of gambling and now we need to pay the piper. Americans need to stand up, take responsibility and get back to work.

Here Comes Uncle Sam to save the day,

From Yahoo News:

New Congress opens pledging to rescue economy

WASHINGTON – The Capitol rang loud with vows to fix the crisis-ridden economy Tuesday as Congress opened for business at the dawn of a new Democratic era. “We need action and we need action now,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Republicans agreed, and pledged cooperation in Congress as well as with President-elect Barack Obama — to a point.
