Economy and politics are just seawead in the ocean of our Christian voyage
Jesus is the lighthouse that guides our vessel to Him.
“Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you,
because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.”
John 2:8
It is not Glorifying to God if Christians walk in fear of the economy or our political landscape.
God has a particular plan for each one of us. If we sail towards His light daily, then our vessel will cut through the tangles of the seaweed that lay ahead. We are to be about glorifying God. With the current political climate, world terrorism, new deal economics and lowered economic expectations we are giving many opportunities to glorify God and share the Gospel with others. God knows the hearts of men, he sees what is going on in the world and he is watching you and I and how we will respond to these times.
The world is Satan’s play ground:
Satin will plot and scheme to take Christians off course. He will use our jobs, our 401ks, our angst over the election, and our friends, families, and neighbors to blow us off course. He will bring gales and swells into our paths to sway us from our destination and to set us adrift from glorifying God. This is not the time to jerk the rudder and jibe in fear back to our worldly port. Hold tight to the helm, pull in the jib, and stay the course. Jesus will lead us to safe harbor and protect us as the seaweed slides under and around our vessels.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
(John 1:7)
(From John Piper in Decision December 2008)
“This is the way God sees the world-ruled by an alien prince who is blinding the minds of unbelievers, filling them with ungodly desires, holding them captive to do his will, and then causing them to think all is well because they are in step with the times”
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation;
but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33 )
Oswald Chambers has more on this subject:
THE LAW OF ANTAGONISM
“To him that overcometh. . . .” Revelation 2:7
Life without war is impossible either in nature or in grace. The basis of physical, mental, moral, and spiritual life is antagonism. This is the open fact of life.
Health is the balance between physical life and external nature, and it is maintained only by sufficient vitality on the inside against things on the outside. Everything outside my physical life is designed to put me to death. Things which keep me going when I am alive, disintegrate me when I am dead. If I have enough fighting power, I produce the balance of health. The same is true of the mental life. If I want to maintain a vigorous mental life, I have to fight, and in that way the mental balance called thought is produced.
Morally it is the same. Everything that does not partake of the nature of virtue is the enemy of virtue in me, and it depends on what moral caliber I have whether I overcome and produce virtue. Immediately I fight, I am moral in that particular. No man is virtuous because he cannot help it; virtue is acquired.
And spiritually it is the same. Jesus said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation,” i.e., every thing that is not spiritual makes for my undoing, but – “Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” I have to learn to score off the things that come against me, and in that way produce the balance of holiness; then it becomes a delight to meet opposition.
Holiness is the balance between my disposition and the law of God as expressed in Jesus Christ.

POLITICS
From Malkin:Republican beats corruptocrat Bill “Cold Cash” Jefferson

Well, this helps take the sting out of the re-election of corruptocrat Jack Murtha. Republican upstart Joseph Cao defeated Bill “Cold Cash Jefferson” in the runoff for Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional district race. This is — this was — a solidly Democrat, Democrat-dominated district. Yes, the voters are sending a message. They want hope, change, and a clean start.

Great thoughts, Rigg. The economic downturn has got many Americans worried, but as Christians we can find solace in Scripture. (Matthew 6:25-33)
I don’t know about you, but I am loading up on stocks in my 401(k). The economy will turn around. I see this economic situation as just another way God uses pain, as the great C.S. Lewis once wrote, to get our attention.
The solution for America is internal, not external.

Isn’t it funny how supposed faith filled Christians still see mountians in front of them.
It is all lillusion anyway. That is why I see the world’s problems as just seaweed. We can sail our boats right through with little more than a blip if we don’t get caught up in fear. Jesus is our answer.
Paul was in chains in a dungeon; he kept singing praise to the Lord until his guard was converted to Christ.
We have the same opportunities daily. Speaking of opportunity, yes I think this would be a great time to invest. As long as you can wait about 4 or 8 years for your return.
God bless,
