Obama, a man who cares for the disabled:

Obama Campaign, not very sensitive or caring of you:

Obama the man who can talk to the world and make them understand.

Obama the man who can understand Ahmadinejad and Chavez.

Obama the man of hope and change.

Obama the sensitive leftist

Obama you are what’s wrong with America

Obama-Biden: Which disabled war vets will they insult next?

By Michelle Malkin • September 13, 2008 11:02 AM

What a week for the Gaffe Twins.

First, Joe Biden bone-headedly urges a disabled veteran in a wheelchair to “Stand up” during a campaign rally.

Next, Barack Obama mocks John McCain for not using a computer to send e-mail — despite mainstream media articles dating back to 2000 that report he can’t type because of the war injuries inflicted by his Vietnamese torturers.

Who will their next victims be?

Keep these bunglers away from Walter Reed.

Reader Matthew Fritch e-mails: (more Malkin)

From Savage Politics:

Yesterday, the Obama campaign made an ad that tries to childishly mock John McCain for his ‘inability’ to use computers and his incapacity to send an email (WATCH HERE). What is the problem with this ad? That the reason for McCain’s inability to use a computer and send an email is completely based on the injuries he received in Vietnam as a POW, where he was tortured for the sake of OUR FREEDOM.

As a matter of public record, John McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes.

Why can’t McCain e-mail? Boston Globe explained it in 2000; Update: So did Forbes

Earlier today, Barack Obama’s campaign released an ad attacking John McCain for not knowing how to send an e-mail. Their crack research team apparently never heard of Google or Lexis-Nexis, but Jonah Goldberg does. He discovers why McCain doesn’t use a keyboard — his torturers made sure he couldn’t. The Boston Globe reported it eight years ago:

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan – Ted Williams is his hero – but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

After Vietnam, McCain had Ann Lawrence, a physical therapist, help him regain flexibility in his leg, which had been frozen in an extended position by a shattered knee. It was the only way he could hope to resume his career as a Navy flier, but Lawrence said the treatment, taken twice a week for six months, was excruciatingly painful.

”He endured it, he wouldn’t settle for less,” said Lawrence, who rejoiced with McCain when he passed the Navy physical. ”I have never seen such toughness and resolve.”

Making fun of a war hero’s severe injuries — smooth move, Team O. Talk about computer illiteracy! Doesn’t anyone on the Obama campaign know what they’re doing? Didn’t it ever occur to them that a man who can’t raise his arms above his head might have a physical barrier to using a computer?

If this is what happens when they takes the gloves off, maybe they should just keep them on in the future.

Update (AP): I’m not sure how he’s accessing the ‘Net given his injuries, but he does appear to have some kind of access. From an NYT interview in July: (Hot Air Continued)

  1. This reminds me of a stupid and insensitive comment by CNN’s Jenny Most. In an attempt to be cryptically humorous (what she painfully strives to be) she states, “and with an awkward wave of the hand—”. The scene did indeed show Senator McCain waving awkwardly but it was due to his injuries and not social awkwardness as she tried to portray it. Do any of these people have an inclination where Senator McCain was for most of the war?

  2. wingsovernc,

    Thanks for your comment.

It is amazing that people still buy into the Obama is the One hype. If he is not insensitive then he is just plan stupid for allowing such things to come out of his campaign.

The “don’t want my kids punished with a baby” thing, lipstick thing and now the McCain degradation of his lack of ability to operate computers thing.

If Obama is such a great man than when and where is he going to apologize for this one?

    Don’t hold your breath.

    Thanks again,

  3. Sad to say, it appears Mr. Barack Obama has been made captain of a sinking ship.

Christians should of course pray for the president, but there are things in the world going on that no human being will be able to control.

Something soon is going to happen in the Middle East, that will astonish the world, but that is only the beginning of distress in this world.

  4. Hello Charles,

Thanks for your comment, “Sad to say.”

It’s 6:00 am on the West Coast, where I am and you are so right, it is “sad to say” that the world is a fallen place and things look bleak out there.

That is why Christians should always be ready to rejoice and give a reason for our hope and faith in Christ.

There are so many lost out in the world, they will be looking for answers…..

We have the answer in Christ!

    God Bless,

  5. Having recently to deal with the loss of my darling wife, who passed away, it was so hard; but with all this sadness, I know she left this world for a better place.

I would not have been able to stand it, without the knowing; because HE lives; she will live also. I do not know what hope people that are not Christians have.

God bless you, for letting me post this.

  6. Charles,

I am sorry for your loss,
My prayers tonight will include you and your family.

You are so right that we Christians have the best hope for our future.

We are given so much from God, our lives, our loves, and our everlasting life with Him.

I admire your courage and attitude,

“In Him we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1: 11 & 12).

Check back often, you are always welcome to post your feelings and thoughts.

    God Bless,
