The more I see and hear the next Vice President of the United States the More I like:
Sarah Palin wows us without raising her voice or making a big noise about her family. She is saying the right things and staying focused in spite of the fact that the Dems let the dogs out. There is even a story out that tracks the original scandal of a non-story back to Obama’s anti-smear blog. They just can’t help themselves.
It’s epidemic: P.D.S. rages on

McCain P.O.W. mockery? Check.
Hack-edited video? Check.
Rampant sexism? Check.
Festering conspiracy theories? Check.
They can’t control themselves. Back off?

Video: So, how’s the news about Palin’s daughter playing at the convention?

Newsday columnist and possible amateur Scalia impersonator Larry Levy weighs in. Just one man’s observation, but it’s precisely what I’d expect given the palpable jolt of enthusiasm she’s thrown into the GOP and grassroots conservatives. As for his take on how working-class women might react, Althouse made a similar point about judgmentalism earlier. Let’s hope they’re right. The clip’s short but very savvy. Click the image to watch.
Update: The media’s dying for this unconventional pick to explode in McCain’s face. They can taste it: “I covered the Dan Quayle campaign. Is there no sense of panic over the love child issue or is there a belief that it shows that she is like a lot of American families?”
Update: I linked this in the last thread but it works here too. Fred Thompson today in Minneapolis:
Pushed by NEWSWEEK’s reporters and editors to say whether having a pregnant teenage daughter and five-month-old baby with Down syndrome at home will raise questions about Palin’s “priorities,” Thompson responded by questioning the questioners. “Would you be saying that about man running for office in her shoes?” he asked. “I really think you’re going to be surprised at how average people and women who are not necessarily political one way or another identify with her. I see nothing in this that will hurt Sarah Palin politically. I mean, I get that it’s a necessary part of the process to ask those questions. But we have to keep it fair. If we don’t keep it fair, it will redound to her benefit.” Judging by the reaction in the room–“I look around this table all these angry men, and I can’t believe they’re even asking this question,” quipped one female NEWSWEEKer–I have a feeling he’s right. Saying a woman can’t pursue her professional goals AND care for her children at the same time is never a political winner–whether it’s conservatives or liberals wagging their fingers.

From Sarah Palin’s home town,
In Wasilla, Pregnancy Was No Secret
That’s about the only thing that I didn’t know about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. The rest of the details I picked up almost without trying, while talking about other things with townsfolk — some who know the governor and her family well, some who don’t. It was, more or less, an open secret. And everyone was saying the same thing: the governor’s 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, the father is her boyfriend, and it’s really nobody’s business beyond that.
I happen to agree.
This tiny town wedged in between the Chugach and Talkeetna mountain ranges has intrigued the whole country since John McCain’s surprise Friday announcement that Wasilla’s favorite daughter, Sarah Palin, would be his running mate. Sure, some of the interest was a prelude to attacks on Palin’s readiness for national office. But Wasilla also offered a welcome chance to get specific about the geography of a politician. It’s one of our most cherished myths, that a leader can come from somewhere and you can guess at their qualities not just by what they say, but where they live. (More)

From Riggword:
The law says that a person under 18 has privacy rights. In some states a child under 18 can get an aborttion without the parents knowing. In the Democrats’ view all children are game if it will take down their opponent.
I say shame on the Dems and their surrogate. This is just too dirty even for politics. (riggword)
That is a grossly unfair and inaccurate statement.
Many (dare I say most?) Obama supporters are disgusted with the attacks on Bristol and are taking other Obama supporters to task over it.
Obama himself stated that Palin’s family — especially her children — are off limits and that he would fire anyone from his campaign who takes part in the rumor mongering.
I have strongly (and publicly) objected to sweeping generalizations made about Sarah Palin and her family, and I strongly object to the sweeping generalization made here.
It’s simply not true.

Thanks again for your comments L,
Two differences between Obama and Bristal Plain is that Obama is trying to become the most powerful man in the world by getting elected to the position of Commander In Chief. Palin is a 17 year old girl which in most realities makes her a minor and she is not trying to run the United States Government.
So for now I will not try and share insight into intentions or manners in this election. It seems to me that you have a certian amount of admiration for Obama and that is ok in my book.
Let’s talk about issues then. What do you think about Obama’s actions and rhetoric on:
!. Abortion
2. Late Term Abortion
3. Infanticide
4. Mandatory Community Service
5. Raising Taxes.
6, Hindering our choice for Health Care.
7. Retreating from Islamic fascism
8. Reducing our energy supplies
9. His friendship with Weather Underground
founders Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohren.
10. His affiliation with convicted Tony Rezko
11. His association with ACORN a community
organization that has had problems with
illegally gathering signatures on petitions.
12 Forcing regular people into conservation
regulations that the elite can buy their way out
of.
And finally you really need to investigate Obama’s connection with Bill Ayers, $ 1 Million and the “Chicago Annenberg Challenge Shutdown? A cover-up in the making?” You can read about Obama and this scandal at:
http://article.nationalreview.com/print/?q=MTgwZTVmN2QyNzk2MmUxMzA5OTg0ODZlM2Y2OGI0NDM
Take your pick. I have more but I think these are enough for now. My purpose is not to embarrass but to challenge people reading this blog to think about what Obama wants to do if he becomes Commander In Chief of the United States of America.
Voters need to know who this man is and who is behind him, George Soros, Bill Ayers, David Axlerod.
He may be the nicest, most handsome, well spoken and charismatic candidate but his ideas and his polices are the problem. He sees America as the problem and the solution is to bring America down to the status of a second tear power.
Thanks for your comments and your patience.

“I find that dishonest and, frankly, quite rude. Honestly, I had expected better from you, Rigg. While we disagree on quite a lot, I always felt that you at least made an effort to be fair. I would have considered this kind of behavior to be beneath you.”
Sorry you feel that way Lottie,
I guess I misread your sentiments in your first comments.
If I offended you I apologize.
I’ll just leave it at that for now,
God Bless,

Hey Riggy!
Wanted to come right over to say hello and see just what you thought of our Sarah kicking booty and Barry slipping up AGAIN, and this time saying ‘my Muslim faith’ as if he said it everyday of his life, times ten thousand!
This has been a glorious success for the Republicans and I for once am about to alter my registration to RED BABY!!
I jumped to the Indies (party, not islands) on June 4th, right after His Assness pronounced the hatchet job on Hillary complete. Now, as I see how much I really admire McCain and love Sarah Palin, I do not want to play in the Middle Games. I think I am ready to take the plunge. I do not agree with the Farthest Right of The Right but I certainly cannot tolerate the Far Left of The Left. I like being more a bit of each, minus the madness of course.
So anyway – knowing you have been away from Our Place for a bit, I wanted to jump over and just say how glad I am that McCain is a real man and that he had the brains and the you-know-whats to pick a REAL WOMAN.
I love Alaska.
I love McCain.
I love being Free from the Democratic Victimfest, Back-biting, Dishonesty/Unity Machine. May they rot!

We’re all in this together to keep Obama out!
So, Take a walk on the red side!
Thanks for your comments 2099.

For what is worth, I thought Obama and Biden were fairly quick to denounce the media’s abuse of Bristol Palin. Whether or not they were sincere is another thing.
