Deep Thoughts of an Obama Supporter:

Ram Dass speaks his mind?

Richard Alpert (Ram Dass) on LSD

Hmm, Sounds like Obama to me.

Never been proud of America!

America is no longer what it once was!

God D—- America!

Windmills?

Tire inflation?

Hope?

Change?

Awareness?

Love?

Transcend?

I feel good with the Universe;

must vote Obama,

Must Vote Obama,

Must Vote Obama.

This makes sense to Ram Dass….and other Obama deep thinkers.

From Deep Thinker, Bob Beckel

“Obama is only concerned with mastering whatever process is needed

to get from here to there, nothing more, nothing less.”

Nothing at all!

Ram Dass use to say that he was a living experiment for LSD,

I guess we now know the result.

Obama: “America is no longer what it once was”

posted at 11:25 am on August 7, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

When presidential candidates answer questions from children about why they want the job, most will give an answer that uplifts the child and the candidate. Not Barack Obama. At a campaign stop in Elkhart, Indiana, a seven-year-old girl asked the Democrat why he wants to be President — and he told her that America has gone downhill: (More)

From Savage Politics:

In pundit news, if you want to read something truly ridiculous and worthy of a harsh scolding, you should go ahead and read Bob Beckel’s new column at RealClearPolitics.com, called “Barack the Cable Guy“. In essence, he is stating that Barack Obama’s constant shifts on policy, and his blatantly open dishonesty about ALL political issues during this campaign, are all in fact a “good thing” for a Presidential candidate. Here is an excerpt from his idiotic opinion:

What the Republicans and many in the political chattering class are calling flip flopping by Obama is nothing more than political pragmatics, and Obama is very good at it. In fact, given the array of problems facing the next president, learning to adjust as events warrant will be an essential tool. Obama is only concerned with mastering whatever process is needed to get from here to there, nothing more, nothing less. (More)

riggword:

I have always thought and stated that Obama supporters don’t care what he says. This is the mindset of the radical left which has now infiltrated the left of center Democrats.

I use to think this way so I know of what I speak. It makes no difference what Obama says he is the guy, the enlightened one who can, “Master whatever process is needed to get from here to there, nothing more, noting less”

If we need energy; Obama will master it (Think tire inflation)
If we need peace in the Middle East; Obama will master it. (think Western Wall, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Talk to his buddy Ahmadinejad)
If we need instant economic boast; Obama will master it (Think taxing the oil companies to give to the poor)

This type of blind leadership can only succeed with strong support from the blind. Obama’s supporters and many Americans who see America as the problem blindly follow.
The scary part is that even if he losses in November we still have a Country half full of products of the modern American educational system that say there are no absolutes, use your own strategy and you can solve and master any problem.

This use to be a mindset restricted to the hard left and college professors. This mindset has moved from elitist colleges down to high schools and into elementary schools. The result is an electorate who is stuck on stupid. They are stuck in a fantasy world that says, “Our evolved higher intelligence and transcendent thinking can bring paradise to the planet”
Believe me they believe their own ability to bring paridise and utopia to the earth through positive mindset, open mindedness, environmentalism, being smarter than we Neanderthal old brain reactionary types,

I have lived this philosopy/religion it completely takes over all aspects of your being and your life decissions. Ram Das may sound wacky but he is representative of the radical left thinking and this thinking has become embedded in the mindset of many Americans.

  1. How is it that everyone on the right seems so bitter and hateful and everyone on the left seems so childishly optimistic? An even better question: Why doesn’t either side see some middle ground? If everyone would put aside their willingness to sling names and ugliness at each other and talk in civil tones and terms about the topics that affect us all, perhaps we might actually accomplish something worthwhile. Running each other down so we can feel better about ourselves serves no beneficial purpose — and it certainly serves no moral purpose. Unless all of us can learn to work together without preconceived biases and the appalling lack of civility that’s all too often displayed in public lately, we’re all doomed.

  2. disorderly,

Thank you for your kind peaceful remarks and for visiting.

But, it is obvious that you haven’t read some of the hate emails that I receive. Some I cannot publish due to foul language. So, maybe we can say that there are meanies on both sides.

This is not a problem of Obama’s personal life; it is a problem because he wants to be the leader of the most powerful country to every have existed on the planet. He is not qualified and he does not share my values.

    Compromise is an interesting word:

How do you compromise on killing babies in the womb; there is no half-dead.

How do you compromise with loving America and American values and American excellence with “Fist time I have been proud of America” and “America is …, uh, is no longer, uh … what it could be, what it once was. And I say to myself, I don’t want that future for my children.”

Some of us are proud of America and American heritage. Some of us believe that our children are blessed to be raised with the same opportunities we had.

What is the compromise between Obama and McCain? Ron Paul? Ralph Nader?

Usually when the left says compromise it means that the right caves in and gives the left what they want.

Americans have strong core values and beliefs that are strong and meaningful. Some Americans have beliefs that are diametrically opposed to traditional American and free market ideals.

Most of us enjoy prosperity and peace in our daily lives. The Democrats want to keep us worried and angry at the status quo so that we will be desperate for “change”. So we can agree that life isn’t so bad in the U.S. can’t we?

Obama’s votes and rhetoric are opposite of the dreams and values that have kept this country prospering for so long. There is no compromise when one party wants to control free enterprise, oil, energy, Health care etc. McCain is proud of America and wants to continue to allow free enterprise to flourish and proper so that our children can expect to live the life to its fullest. Obama wants to tax companies to their knees and use the money for big government programs that only suppress the people.

    Compromise is a great word.

    I’ll offer my own suggestion,

Obama drops out of the race. Hillary gets out of the way and the Democrats nominate Zell Miller for their candidate.

Thank you for your comment; please feel free to comment again,
    God Bless
    riggword

  3. I’m glad to see you understand the true spirit of compromise. I’m sure the Democrats would be delighted to nominate Zell Miller as their candidate — if the Republicans would reciprocate by dumping McCain in favor of Jim Webb.

  4. Ah yes,

But McCain is already a big compromise for conservatives.

What I would like to see is a two party system where both parties can truly uphold traditional Judeo-Christian work ethics, Support of the military defense of our country, belief and support for American exceptionalism, support of the constitution as written originally, support for free markets and property rights, capitalism, American sovereignty, English as our language, and the rights of individuals to pursue happiness.

Then the two parties could dook it out for the particulars. The problem we have now is one party the Republicans who accept America for its heritage and constitutional foundation. One party who believes in the exceptionalims of individuals and the ability for the ordinary American to do extraordinary things without the government being a lifetime companion and hovering mother.

Birth to death government involvement in our lives is not what Americans are about.

These are basic differences in this election. That is the issue this year. Compromise is not an option.

It is either McCain’s “Traditional founding fathers Constitutional America proud of America” or it is Obama’s “America is broken and needs to change I don’t want my kids to grow up in it socialist America ”

That is the debate, sometimes these stark differences may seem uncompromising and mean, but that is the way it is. Obama is not deserving of leading our country.

    God Bless

  5. I really don’t mean to argue with you — and I honestly have no loyalty to any political party or candidate — but aren’t the Republicans (and McCain’s campaign in particular) offering a “birth-to-death government” of a different stripe? Government surveillance of individuals — even in our homes — is at an all-time high. The government can and does engage in warrantless wiretapping of cell phones and electronic communication and seizes personal electronic devices even from American citizens at border crossings — without, I might add, any suspicion. Disagree with the administration, and you’re branded un-American or labeled dangerously subversive.

We hand out billions of dollars in foreign aid annually to countries that mock us, we’re sending American jobs overseas in droves because megalithic corporations are dedicated to wealth more than prosperity, and both the Middle East and China own so much of this country it’s almost not ours anymore. How does any of that display “American pride?”

There IS something seriously broken here. This is not the America our forefathers founded, and we the sheep, in order to form a more perfect union, cling so avidly to the name-calling and other-bashing that we forget to insist the people who would lead us actually come up with solutions and plans instead of rhetoric. We’d rather giggle about McCain comparing Obama to Paris Hilton than knuckle down and demand better from those who are supposed to be the best of the best — and that’s across the board, not the purview of any one party.

Just my thoughts, of course. Your mileage may vary. :-)

  6. disorderly,

Thank you again for your comments.
First, I think you might want to go back through the history of American Presidential elections; they have always been contentious, energetic, and sometimes nasty.

    An example,
Andrew Jackson was the first US president to have an assassination attempt against him. On January 30th, 1835, a mentally deranged man named Richard Lawrence fired upon Jackson with two pistols, which both misfired. The angry Jackson proceeded to beat Lawrence with his cane until Jackson’s aides intervened and stopped the beating. He also killed a man in a duel.

The founding fathers had heated, drawn out debates, and tempers flared when developing the constitution.

Think about the scene where the colonists boarded a boat dressed as Indians, “The Boston Tea Party” , a political statement.

Teddy Roosevelt was an energetic campaigner.
I don’t know if you were around during the Barry Goldwater years, but the anti Goldwater ads were vicious; Atom Bombs exploding inferring that Barry would start a nuclear war.

Do you remember what people said about Richard Nixon?

President Lincoln had to dress as a woman to hide from would be assassins from the south.

They called Reagan all sorts of names. Ronald Ray-Gun!

Don’t even start on the vicious names for our current American President Bush. You could write a whole book or make a movie…oh I think Michael Moore already did!

This country was started with violence, ‘War of Independence” The Civil War was also a political War.

The Obama phenomenon does not dictate that his opponent cannot use what ever works to get elected.

Second, before I dedicate time to our ongoing dialog I would like to ask you what your motivation is?

Why are you so intrigued by asking about civility and peace now that Obama is a candidate? What is your motivation, agenda? Is there room in your thinking for changing your mind? Or would you rather others change their minds?

If you don’t have any loyalty to a party or candidate then what are your core values? What do you believe in? These two candidates are clear choices and have extreme differences. If you can’t choose between the two, then maybe you should examine your true core beliefs about life, America, and Spirituality.

Your answer is important to our further dialog.
    Thank you for your comments,
    riggword

  7. I am not so easily impressed, but I think disorederly went oofline to see what Karen Korn…could write for a response.

I am enjoying this. I appreciate your more than obvious informed and learned mind. Reta

  8. reta,

nice to see your remarks on this post as well.

Call me naive, but who is Karen Korn?

Disorderly’s responses did sound rather canned.

What else can you share that I might like to know?

    Thanks again,
    riggword

  9. riggword,

Are you suggesting that because “the country was started with violence” that we should endeavor to continue a fractious, war-like existence? History has shown the Revolutionary War was a necessary product of its time and place. History has not been as kind to other wars (globally). The Revolutionary War sought to overthrow tyranny and oppression. If you ask me, we’re staring similar governance in the face right now.

Be that as it may, wars and violence should be a last resort, not the first option, at least in my opinion. (Remember: Christ was a pacifist, exhorting His followers to “turn the other cheek.” He lived a pious life and showed by example what Christians could be. He did not insist others come over to His way of thinking, or else.)

Likewise, the notion that political nastiness is excusable because “that’s the way it always has been” is specious, at best. If someone hadn’t discarded the “it’s always been done that way” mindset, we would not have any of the blessings of modern society: medications, communication, travel and the Internet, to name a few. You and I would not be having this conversation (to the amusement, apparently, of at least one other reader).

The “end justifies the means” philosophy is exactly what has gotten society into the pickle in which it now finds itself: rampant inflation, war, moral and ethical confusion and a general lack of respect between parties who disagree. The ends never justify deceit, hatefulness and other Ten Commandments-breaking behaviors.

As for contentious political debate, there is nothing wrong with that (politics and religion always seem to rouse strong emotions) — but debates, by definition, are composed of logical arguments and keep emotional side trips to a minimum. There is no logic in name calling and vitriol.

“Canned” is the last thing my responses are. They’re also not taken chapter and verse from someone else’s play book. They are my own, because my conscience and behavior are the only ones I can control.

But back to the original issue. Here’s my point, in a nutshell: In any human interaction, one side is going to tune out the other the moment its discourse becomes vituperative, condemnatory or condescending. Since neither side needs to convert the adherents it already has, doesn’t it make more sense to engage in rational, well-reasoned and polite discussions in order to convince fence-straddlers that your proposed course of action is, in fact, sane, responsible — and, dare I say it — humane? Otherwise, the mean side just comes off looking like a bully.

No one needs to belong to a political party or cling to one party’s ideology in order to have core values. I prefer to watch candidates with an open mind in an attempt to discover THEIR core values, hoping that will indicate something about their leadership. So far, I’m not entirely impressed with either side in this election — and that means I am exactly the kind of voter both parties should be courting. I am not alone, either. There are more of us out here than anyone realizes, and frankly, McCain — whom I respected during his last go-round, because he seemed genuine and committed to an ideal — is losing me with the negative campaigning. Might a better course of action for him be to lay off what’s wrong with the other guy and focus on what’s right with him? It seems to me a strong leader would focus on what’s right with his ideology instead of distracting people with unnecessary other-bashing. If the other guy is “bad” in some way, believe me, voters will notice.

  10. When Obama says America is not what is could be, he is really saying that America has not yet conformed itself to the one world ideology. America is still to separatist in Obama’s mind. Consider one of James Burnham’s 19 liberal beliefs in his book Suicide of the West:

“The obstacles to progress and the achievement of the good society are ignorance and faulty social institutions.”

Obama and his liberal compatriots think we are all ignorant and our traditional institutions like marriage, family, and nationalism are faulty. This is why he believes America has yet to become the utopian “good society.” It is also why he can go to Berlin and bash his own country.

  11. peek9

    You’ve got it!

    Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!

I’ll have to read that book.

  12. disorderly,

You make many assumptions about Christ that are just not Biblical.

Your points are old and tired; thoughts I use to have as a sophomore in high school.

I will disect your comments later when I have nothing pressing to do. Let’s just say that I have been through your thinking process so many times I am dizzy.

But it may be educational for some of my readers to follow your logic word for word as a lesson in how our country has swung so far to the left.

    Tell me disorderly,
are you a college graduate or professor?
Where do your true elegances lie?
You repeat leftists talking points continually, so how can you say you don’t have an agenda?

  13. riggword, exactly what assumptions did disorderly make about Christ are not Biblical? The most violent thing Christ did in the Bible was overturn tables. He never harmed a single person.

Go read your Bible and stop buying into right wing Republican nonsense. They would have you believe that Christ would approve of torture.

  14. abajan, disorderly, and others,

A big yawn wants to come out of my mouth.

Knowing God’s essence is the Christian walk.
Being closer to him is our goal, hope, and life.

Christ is God! Jesus is God! Jesus Christ is God!

Our understanding of his true essence, including old and new testament is a lifetime sanctification process.

Trying to interpret God’s ways with a verse or two will not a closer walk make.

So, one more time could one of you or both of you please tell my your true goal with your line of thinking.

It would make for better conversation if you would just flat out say what you are getting at.

I doubt seriously if either of you are looking for a seminary level method on how to exegete the Bible.

If you are there are some great websites, seminary schools, or even some Bible commentaries you can study.

As far as breaking down disorderly’s last post, in due time. I will use it as an example of liberal theology. Nothing against new believers or perhaps non-believers in this case, but sometimes we are a little simplistic in our approach to relating historical Biblical concepts to today’s political worldliness.

So, please next time give me your goals and agendas for this exchange or I will make a editorial decision to terminate your posts.

And please spare me the, “I use to like McCain until he got mean” stabs. You guys are so transparent!

    Thank you and God bless,
    riggword.

  15. riggword, Jesus Christ is NOT God. He never claimed to be. He is however God’s only begotten son. He kept showing respect and deference to His Father in heaven.

What “agenda” are you talking about? Perhaps disorderly has one but I certainly don’t. But since it’s your blog, you’re free to terminate whoever you wish.

“Thank you and God bless” yeah, RIGHT. Sincerity becomes you.

    abajan

  16. Well at least you have answered one of my questions.

You are not a Christian. That is ok with me, you will have to answer to God for your own salvation.

    I’ll be direct then.

    Are you an Obama supporter?
Is your goal to learn or to change others?
Are you a seeker of the truth or a advocate for your political agenda?

Do you follow my blog to try and gum up the works or are you interested in true dialog?

All of these would be interesting answers.

But I think you have said a lot when you say “Jesus is not God”. If that is what you believe then we are in the wrong conversation.

You should be searching deeply into what you do believe and where you are going to spend eternity.

All conversations that include Jesus or the Bible are moot as you do not have a Christian perspective and I do.

So, let’s get off this idea that you know who Jesus is and what he would do in an election.

Do you want to be led to Christ as your Saviour?
I would love to help you out with this if it be your wish.

If not than let’s leave the Lord, the Bible out of your rhetoric until the time when he calls you to be his.

    God Bless

  17. Ops, I almost forgot the most interesting thing about your responses.

If Jesus is not God then why are you so concerned about him?

If Jesus is not God then why would anybody care what a Christian might think about elections and how to run them?

If Jesus is just a man then he might as well be Soupy Sales; He would have to be a mad man and why would anybody like you make such a big deal about a mad man?

Just some more thoughts in case anybody is still reading these comments.

  18. riggword, show me the chapters and verses in the Bible where Jesus Christ claims to be God. A simple request.

Who told you that Christ isn’t my Savior? You keep making these incredible assumptions. Did I state or even imply that Jesus is just a man?

Thankfully, your statement that I’m not a Christian doesn’t make it so.

  19. young grasshopper it is nice to see that you are still seeking.

Wisdom comes when you seek truth.
I am praying for your wisdom even as we write these exchanges.

    Colossians 1:8-10
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”

Abajan, you still use words to play with me. If you want to look up those passages I might suggest going to:

    J. Vernon McGee’s through the Bible at:
    http://www.thruthebible.org/site/c.hvKSLdMYIsG/b.403829/k.DEBE/Dr_J_Vernon_McGees_Answers_to_Common_Bible_Questions.htm

Or the Bible Answer Man at:
    http://www.equip.org/site/c.muI1LaMNJrE/b.2106253/k.BDBB/Home.htm

Or A word on the Word at:
    http://timglass.wordpress.com/

A book or two might help:
A Case for Christ by Lee Strobel
Mere Christianity by C.S.Lewis to name a few.

So, if you are truly seeking His truth then you might try truly seeking. There are many more sources for your answer. Let the Bible read it through you if you dare.

But I am still not convinced of you motivation grasshopper.

So, let it out. I will give you a chance here to share your true pain and cause for your turmoil.

    Peace to you
    riggword

  20. abajan,

I have read your last two comments.

I want to thank you for your interest in finding Jesus as your Lord and Savior and the Creator of the Universe.

Although I have always thought that it would be a blessing to lead a soul to Christ over my blog, I am not sure that you are the best candidate for my first endeavor to this end.

If you want to continue to learn, you can check my blog occasionally. I will continue to expound on my Lord and Savior as long as I have a blog.

Something about your position tells me that you are not truly interested in the Way, the Truth, and the Life. It seems to me that you are more interested in debating which is a worthwhile cause for the most part.

I however have many more projects that take my attention and time, including sharing the word of God with true seekers.

So, for now I choose to omit your posts. If I can find time maybe we can continue this discussion over email.

However if you really are open minded and seeking truth I am sure that there are plenty of Local Churches in your area that will be blessed by speaking with you.

I will continue to pray for your salvation.
    God Bless,
    riggword
