Is Obama’s answer take over the Oil Companies?
Take from the producers and give to the dreamers. The reality is that the oil companies have been keeping the engine of America running for 100 years. The reality is that oil companies have added to the raising of the standard of living for the whole world for 100 years. The eco-fuel people build Don Quixote Windmills in the sky. The reality is oil company % of profits is lower than most American companies. Beer costs about 5 cents a glass to make, How much to you pay for your glass of beer? Bottled water costs ???? to make, the bottle costs more than the water, how much to you pay for a gallon of water? What is the % of profit on a gallon of water? Of course the Vice President would want to talk with Oil Companies; they are producing the power that makes the world productive and prosperous.
The problem, the creative teachers and the creative students are suppressed by tests and accountability.
The answer take back the schools and give them to the creative teachers and the creative students. Make school fun and teach the students about jazz and African American exeperiance.
But where is this school of 100 % turnaround in one year. From 50% drop out to 100% college bound in one year?

When you start working with teachers, tapping into their creativity, then you start designing curriculums that tap into the childrens’ creativity. I was at a wonderful charter school in Colorado, ah, that had designed the entire school year –each year was designed around a theme– and this is a majority Hispanic school, but the theme that year, they called it “Passages.” And it was all about the African American experience and so they incorporated music, you know, ah tracing sort of the history of African music through blues through jazz to modern times, along with history, along with literature, and these kids last year, ah, the year before they started this charter school, about 50% of the kids had dropped out, and now a 100% of them are graduating, a 100% of them are going to college because they were engaged in a curriculum that was interesting to them and seemed relevant to them, ah, and they incorporated art and music to make school interesting.
