Yesterday I received this comment on my post “A Letter to Myself”:
“You are right that we cannot let the world get in the way of us and the Lord. It certainly is easy to since the world is increasingly becoming hostile to morality and Christianity. I like the previous comment. It puts things into perspective. We as mere humans cannot eradicate evil, so why even try. This is question I have been wrestling with lately.” (from peak9 at WithoutPoliticians)
He was commenting on my post which reflected on keeping my Christian head on straight while resisting this candidate Obama. I feel a kinship with his words and this letter is to myself as well. Whereas I do believe that we must always know where to place our hope, faith and trust, Jesus, and we always want our obsession to with God and in being closer to him, we must never forget that one of our callings is to resist evil and uphold God. We cannot lie down and let evil triumph. I want to encurage all Christians to continue to fight the good fight.
Peak9 I too become discouraged consistently. Prayer and calling on God to solve the problems is our first calling. But then we must act. We must go forth boldly and preserver against evil. Obama’s plans and ideas are against most of my Christian beliefs. We have on ly one life to give back to the Lord. We must stand with him and resist. Likewise we will hold McCain accountable if he wins the election.
“But for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love” (II Peter 1:5-7, NKJV).
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)
If Jesus had not stood up to the forces of evil he would have not gone to the cross
IF Paul would have stayed home and prayed he would not have spread the word or written so many bookds of the Bible. In fact Paul was so active in the day resisting the political powers at the time that they called him names and threatened him:
“For we have found this man a plague,
a creator of dissension among all the Jews throughout the world,
and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.
He even tried to profane the temple and we seized him” (Acts 23:22).
Oh to be called such names for defending our Lord.
Christians must stand, if not us then who?:
My “Letter to Myself” was about being obsessed with the political scene. Today my letter is about resisting evil in this campaign. If we understand that we are solders for God and that we must resist sin then we can use our time, talents, and discernment to resist this man Obama. So peak9 and others I want to encourage us to continue to stand for God and righteousness. We may not know the outcome, God does, He has His plan and his forces in control, but He wants to see our hearts in any given situation. He wants us to act on this planet to defend Him and stand against the darkness. That is how we show our love and obedience. Resist politicians that undermine God’s plan for humans as a form of worship, then we will continue to be obsessed with God and not politics.
We Must Lay Down Our Life For Jesus:
From Oswald Chambers, “My Utmost for His Highest”:
| WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THIS? | ||
| “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend.” . . . “I have called you friends.” John 15:13, 15Jesus does not ask me to die for Him, but to lay down my life for Him. Peter said – “I will lay down my life for Thy sake” and he meant it; his sense of the heroic was magnificent. It would be a bad thing to be incapable of making such a declaration as Peter made; the sense of our duty is only realized by our sense of the heroic. Has the Lord ever asked you – “Wilt thou lay down thy life for My sake?” It is far easier to die than to lay down the life day in and day out with the sense of the high calling. We are not made for brilliant moments, but we have to walk in the light of them in ordinary ways. There was only one brilliant moment in the life of Jesus, and that was on the Mount of Transfiguration; then He emptied Himself the second time of His glory, and came down into the demon-possessed valley. For thirty-three years Jesus laid out His life to do the will of His Father, and, John says, “we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” It is contrary to human nature to do it.
If I am a friend of Jesus, I have deliberately and carefully to lay down my life for Him. It is difficult, and thank God it is difficult. Salvation is easy because it cost God so much, but the manifestation of it in my life is difficult. God saves a man and endues him with the Holy Spirit, and then says in effect – “Now work it out, be loyal to Me, whilst the nature of things round about you would make you disloyal.” “I have called you friends.” Stand loyal to your Friend, and remember that His honour is at stake in your bodily life. |

I think the reason why a couple of you guys are so greived over the hearts of people is because of the specific spiritual gift(s) God has given you. I am thinking the gift of prophecy ( I am not talking about these modern day prophets who mishandle truth) but people who have a passion for the clear, written Word of God and want to see this taught/preached and manifested in individuals.

Selena,
Also thank you for your thoughts on spiritual gifts. You may have a point there, we all have spiritual gifts that God uses for his purpose. I am concerned with the direction of our country and how that will affect our future generations.
I was writing about a battle of the flesh. My concern is that I do not get obsessed with the Obama political thing. Instead I want to be obsessed with being closer to God. I want to glorify Him and deglorify me. Sometimes when I am blogging about Obama I know that it is my flesh blogging. I know that I am caught up in myself instead of glorifying God.
This is not to say that I will not post about Obama. I will continue to post against people and policy that I believe is against Godliness. I will continue to blog against those who encourage sin.
But, I pray that I blog as worship to God.
Thanks for your comment. It is nice to hear from people who are passionate about Christ.
God Bless
