Do You Need a Good Laugh?
Did you hear the one about the traveling Politician
Obama In Portland Oregon Sunday Night
(Listen to his High School Graduation Style…Like Ya Know)
Hugh Hewitt has this to say about Obama’s Speech:
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 10:26 AM Jennifer Rubin reports on Barack Obama’s latest display of foreign policy naivete. Iran, as well as Venezuela and Cuba, don’t pose “serious threat[s]” to the U.S.
Has Obama read even one book on the mullahs and their record of terror and their ambitions for the region and their plans for Israel?
Is he aware that Iran is killing American soldiers and Marines?
Obama expects people to take his support for Israel’s security seriously, and then declares that Iran isn’t a serious threat?
This is indeed full-throated appeasement, the refusal to face facts about malign forces in the world and the repeated attempt to negotiate with powers that do not want anything except additional domination and which cannot be satisfied with other than conflict.
I note that Obama’s comments came only a day after his private meeting with a senior Shia leader in the U.S., Hassan Qazwini, detailed by Powerline and others. Qazwini clearly does not believe that Iran is a threat in the region, and his remarks in a joint appearance with Juan Cole give you a sense of the sort of advice he offered Obama in their sit-down.
Clearly Qazwini got his points across with Obama.
Like Obama is totally cool Ya know, He can say so little with such little words.
Michelle Malkin has something to say about Lazy Speech,
Graduation tip of the day: Stop saying “like” and “you know”
Generational verbal tics are hard habits to break. I’m guilty myself:
“Pulitzer Prize winning author David McCullough has a suggestion for what young people can do for their country.
“Please, please do what you can to cure the verbal virus that seems increasingly rampant among your generation,” McCullough implored Boston College’s class of 2008 at commencement ceremonies Monday….
He said he’s particularly troubled by the “relentless, wearisome use of words” such as like, awesome and actually.
…Just imagine if in his inaugural address John F. Kennedy had said, ‘Ask not what your country can, you know, do for you, but what you can, like, do for your country actually.”
Other verbal crutches that need to be thrown in the garbage compactor:
“Frankly.”
“At the end of the day.”
“Impacting.”
And the noxious:
“My friends.”
Savage Politics has a great post titled “Through the Looking Glass”
In his post Anthony Russel compares the Alice in Wonderland story to the possibility of a Brokeered Democratic convintion. He writes,
So, today, while our civil and constitutional rights have been flushed down the toilet, we are subjected to outrageous events like brokered elections, blatant reversal of reality (not even the courtesy of simple distortion) and thug-like manipulation of not only the government as a whole, but the one party – the Democratic Party – who was supposed to be our safeguard against what is tantamount to the politics of a Banana Republic. (more)
He follows this thought with a comment from Lou Dobbs,
DOBBS: “Now, look, I understand all the Obama folks, they want the nomination. All the Clinton folks want the nomination. Both sides get mad at me when I say something this advantageous to one or the other. But the truth is, the truth is, this is the party elite deciding who the nominee is and you can’t mask that, you can’t camouflage it and you can’t disguise it.”
Sounds like the Dems or a bit concerned!
McCulloch is right. Frankly, Obama, uh, talks like that. Maybe that’s why he is so popular with youth, actually.

Thanks for your comments
huntingdon,
I am not as concerned about his ah’s and uh’s
as I am of the ideas he throws out.
For the most intelligent candidate every he sure has a naive and sometimes wrong imagination concerning world events and power.
tam,
Instead of adding to this comment, I will add to my post tomorrow. I guess laughter and crying are not that far apart. His ideas and rhetoric about world affairs is so sad and scary, that it is almost funny.
However I don’t expect Obama fans to look at his inaccuracies and imagination with discerning eyes, because they only want to hear about his offers of Hope and Change and America bashing.
He is not bright enough, aware enough, or smart enough to be Commander-In-Chief.

His ideas and lack of knowledge scare me too. I shouldn’t be too flip about his inability to get out a sentence fluidly. While I think he is smart, it’s not a matter of mere academic achievement that makes one ready for the presidency. I have a hard time imagining Sen. Clinton being unable to answer a question about a major part of a state’s controversies while she was campaigning there, but he couldn’t in Oregon. Now, his supporters will say, “Wasn’t it refreshing that he just admitted he didn’t know!” No, it is absurd that he didn’t know. Of course he couldn’t make it up so he had to admit it. Well, Oregonians voted for him anyway.

Thanks Tam,
I thought you were brighter than to be
an Obama fan. I guess I just read your
comment wrong.
You nailed it nobody knows what Obama is saying,
including Obama.
They just keep voting for him.
I can understand in Oregon, I use to live there.
Those people are all so left wing that they
fly in Cheerios sized circles.
But they don’t care how small the circles are, because they smoke enlightenment and have Hope!
God Bless

Obama is comparing the USSR to today’s Iran, which is comparing apples to oranges. Iran’s hatred of us is about religion, not economic/military power. Ahmadinejad is willing to sacrifice Iran and its people for a religious cause. You cannot negotiate with a person like this. Obama’s insistence to the contrary shows a deep misunderstanding of what is going on.
Also, Obama is verbally attractive to young people (university students) because he sounds just like their anti-American professors.
