Didn’t sleep much last night, so I was already feeling queasy when I tuned in to watch a bit of the Good Morning America interview with Barack Obama’s good family friend, Bill Ayers. Now, I’m really feeling sick in my stomach. The interviewer actually did an adequate job of trying to press Ayers on his terrorist past. Obama threatens TV stations airing Ayers ad

The Obama campaign is giving a glimpse of the future for conservative free speech. They’re trying to sic the Justice Department on TV stations, many of them Sinclair Broadcasting stations, that are airing the independent ad on Obama and Bill Ayers.

Feel the chill in the air?

Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 “Swift Boat” campaign.

Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.

It’s the type of going-for-the-jugular approach to politics many Democrats complain that Kerry lacked and that Republicans exploit.

Obama’s target is an ad by the conservative American Issues Project, a nonprofit group that questions Obama’s ties to Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground organization that took credit for a series of bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol four decades ago. ..

… Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama supporters have inundated stations that are airing the ad, many of them owned by Sinclair Communications, with 93,000 e-mails. He called the ad false, despicable and outrageous.

“Other stations that follow Sinclair’s lead should expect a similar response from people who don’t want the political discourse cheapened with these false, negative attacks,” Vietor said. (Malkin)

When Illinois State Senator Alice Palmer decided to retire in 1995, she hand-picked local left-winger Barack Obama as her successor. In order to introduce Obama to influential liberals in the district, she held a function at the home of Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn. This was, really, the beginning of Obama’s political career, and it linked him forever with Ayers and Dohrn, with whom, as his campaign has acknowledged, he continues to have a friendly relationship

The Bible has this to say:

So what of this man Obama?

Are we to assume that like his pastor he never heard these people say,

”I don’t regret setting bombs,” Bill Ayers said. ”I feel we didn’t do enough.”(New York Times)

Are we to assume that Obama didn’t know that:

“Ayers and Dohrn were famous radicals, and fugitives from the law, in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Dohrn, actually, was the more famous of the two; she was the head, as I recall, of Students for a Democratic Society or one of its factions. Dohrn was crazy. She is the only public figure, to my knowledge, to approve publicly and enthusiastically of the Charles Manson murders” (Power Line).

Was Obama at Church when everybody else was reading the paper?

If everyone knows that William Ayers and his comrades in the Weather Underground were planning to set bombs to murder innocent people, why didn’t they do time?

Because the investigation against them was muffed thanks to the illegal activities of the Washington Post’s favorite Watergate answer man himself, Mark Felt — aka Deep Throat. (The New Nixon)

So, we let Obama off the hook once again:

He is just a regular guy going about his business of taking over the most powerful Country ever to exist. He is going about his own private business with his own friends just to casually walk into the role of Commander and Chief of the United States of America.

Update on the Obama/Ayers paper caper

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post on Stanley Kurtz’s call for help pressing the University of Illinois at Chicago to free the Obama/Ayers papers.

Kurtz has an update and is still quite worried about the endangered documents, so don’t let this one go:

I remain unsatisfied with mainstream media reporting on this issue, and continue to be extremely concerned for the safety and fate of the documents. We need more public pressure, and better reporting. I plan to say more down the road about Obama’s role at Annenberg, even without access to the records at UIC. I also plan to say more about the detailed finding aid now in my possession, and about the contents of the single file folder I was permitted to examine. (more)
